The AGCM has concluded the verification of the compliance of the commitments undertaken by Groupe PSA Italia S.p.A. and Citroën Automobiles SA, following an investigation commenced due to a malfunction of the urea tank, which uses the AdBlue additive found in certain Citroën and Peugeot models. This malfunction required motorists to partially cover the costs of replacement outside the warranty.

Thanks to the commitments made binding by the Authority, starting from December 2023, consumers and businesses have benefited from economic benefits.

In particular, the strengthening of the customer assistance programme (named Special Coverage “4UA+4UB”), has allowed consumers and businesses to carry out repair/replacement interventions at the Citroën and Peugeot network, benefiting from discounts and contributions exceeding 6 million euros.

In addition to these compensatory measures, compensation was added, in the form of vouchers or refunds, totalling approximately 700,000 euros. This was granted to consumers and businesses who, having repaired/replaced the Adblue tank before the start of the investigation, have benefited from less favourable conditions envisaged by the previous assistance programme.

These benefits will further expand as Citroën and Peugeot are implementing additional assistance measures for consumers and businesses. In particular, the duration of Special Coverage '4UA+4UB' was extended by another four years (from 31 August 2024 to 31 August 2028). Moreover, a new customer support programme (called Special Coverage ‘4UD’) has been established for cases of Adblue tank replacement subsequent to a prior intervention (known as recurring cases).
